Why is it different from Alcohol gels?
Once alcohol has evaporated the germ-killing action diminishes. It is extremely effective for flash/immediate disinfection.
Extended use of alcohol sanitizers and extensive washing of the hands has been shown to lead to Irritable Contact Dermatitis (ICD).
85% of health care workers suffer from some form of ICD. As result up to 80% of health care workers in some settings do not apply a sanitizer as often as required by Infection Control.

The product we use in Sursol Hand Sanitiser is NO-GERMS which is a popular hand sanitiser brand. This is displayed on the back of our labelling. All sales and marketing information and content for Sursol Hand sanitiser has been derived from NO GERMS on advice from the manufacturer. The No Germs formula has been tested with the necessary testing for Hand Rubs PrEN 12054+MRSA & EN1500 and Avian flu (H1N5) (reports attached) which supported the claims. The PrEN 12054+MRSA is a quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of products for hygienic and surgical hand rub and handwash. EN1500 Standard applies to products for hygienic hand rub for use in areas and situations where disinfection is medically indicated. This European Standard specifies a test method simulating practical conditions for establishing whether a product for hygienic hand rub reduces the release of transient microbial flora on hands when rubbed onto the artificially contaminated hands of volunteers. This test is also the NHS standard requirement for hand sanitisers to be accepted into its supply chain.
With regards to viricidal activity of chemical disinfectant and antiseptic products the test in particular EN14476 a test for viricidal efficacy uses the vaccina virus (small pox) as a surrogate and not the SARS- COV2. However very recently the EU (Early-Mid April) allowed a derogation for products to be tested under this standard with an extended test to concur the efficacy of surrogate enveloped viruses such as vaccina sufficient, and products that pass the test can claim to kill COVID-19. The formulary active ingredients, Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC) Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride (DDAC) are broad spectrum biocides that have been tested at a range of 0.025% to 0.5% (which is the range strength at which they appear in the formulation of our product) to comply effectively with the EN 14476 standard. We are assured that our product will meet the standards of EN14476 even though the product on it own has not been tested, up until now. There are studies that show that alcohol based sanitisers work faster than water based alternatives because they are flash sanitisers and given the pandemical implications of personal safety we would assume why it was recommended. Water based (BKC, DDAC, CHG) sanitisers work slower usually anywhere from 15 sec upwards but unlike the alcohol based counter parts continue to work for up to 4 hours. However alcohol based sanitisers stop working within minutes. They have little or no residual germ-killing effect. Once alcohol has evaporated the germ killing action stops. Repeated and regular (constant) disinfection is required. I have attached (PIIS0195670120300463) a recent journal study (Jan-2020) for your reference to this and it will show the efficacy of the actives that we use as well as Ethanol & IPA which are the primary component of alcohol based sanitisers.
